Holiday Spice Bath Salts

At my MOPS meeting today, we made the best smelling bath salts--A really nice, inexpensive homemade gift!!

Here's what you'll need:
To whip a batch, mix together:
1.5 C epsom salt
2 T brown sugar
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t ginger
1/4 t cloves
Mix well in a bowl.  That's it!
For a low cost option, place into a little plastic holiday bag, tie with ribbon & gift tag.  If you had a little scoop (the ones in formula containers would work great), you could put that inside.
Or, for a little bit more cost, you could put it in 8 oz. quilted jelly jars.  In fact, the recipe above yielded the perfect amount for two jars.
Tie a little ribbon around the lid, put on a cute little label, and give away to enjoy (and maybe keep a jar for yourself too!)
I found the basis for the label here and then added text.  Click on the picture to download for a free download of these labels.
ENJOY!

Note:  Since I just made these this morning, I have yet to actually try them in the bath.  In the jar, they smell festive and heavenly, so I can only imagine the same is true in warm water.
Caution:  Some people have skin sensitivities to cinnamon, ginger, and/or cloves.  Discontinue use if skin irritation occurs.

  1. Just be aware that sugar in your... erm... lady parts can lead to bacterial infections. In the ears too. So rinse well after soaking in a sugary bath! But 2T sugar/16oz bath salts might not cause a problem.

  3. I've never seen sugar in bath salts before. I like to have bath salts available for our whirlpool tub rooms and will make up a batch of this for our Christmas guests.
