After being surrounded by inspiring, creative women for a weekend at Creative Estates, I thought this giveaway would be a perfect way to share some of the creative love with you! (Hmmm...how many times can I use the word "creative" in one sentence?!...clearly too many!)
Did you know that Cheerios has a annual new author contest, where they make the creative dreams a reality for one aspiring children's book author? I certainly didn't (until now). But, it's true! The grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize, the possibility of a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster, and their book distributed inside Cheerios cereal boxes nationwide. Pretty cool, huh?! In fact, their 2009 winner, Laurie Isop, has her book, "How Do You Hug a Porcupine?" inside boxes of cereal right now and her book will hit store shelves this summer!
If you'd like to find out more or think you've got the "write" stuff, head over to www.spoonfulsofstoriescontest. com before July 15th, 2011!! And this is where I am going to publicly call out my very dear friend who is a fantastic artist (& writer), who totally needs to write a children's book! (I tell her this every.single.time I see her--she should enter!)
What's great though is, whether or not you'd like to enter the author contest, you can still have a chance to create your own books through this fun giveaway! :)
Thanks to Cheerios and My Blog Spark, we received this super fun prize pack including a big box of Cheerios with a copy of "How Do You Hug a Porcupine?" inside and the "Create Your Own Books" kit. The kit has two hard-cover books with materials (like stickers & colored pencils) to create your own books. I am SO excited to make these books! I remember writing stories in elementary school and they are SO funny to look back on. I can't wait to write them with the boys and have cherished keepsakes for years to come!
And, ONE lucky reader will win this same prize pack so you can enjoy some reading & creating (while munching on some Cheerios) with your kids!
Congratulations to lucky comment #5!!

What a fun giveaway. I have several ideas for a children's book. One would have practical about hand washing and the importance of it. The other one would be about living out their childhood dreams.
