Make your own Foot Book!

As part of our reading week activities, we made our very own "Foot Book" inspired from one of our very favorite Seuss classics. If you've read the blog for awhile, you know I'm a sucker for hand & footprint crafts, so making a foot book with our feet was a perfect activity!

Materials:
-card stock, tempera (washable) paint, paintbrush, marker, stapler and/or glue, and feet!

We used 3 sheets of cardstock, folded in half like a book. It helps to have your wording at least roughly planned out ahead of time so you can figure out how many sheets you need.
Then, I painted big brother's feet for the first round of pages!
We had to make it in shifts to let the paint dry (it would be faster to have the pages cut, do it all at once, then glue pages back to back).
Daddy, Little Brother, and I all did our footprints too! :)

Once all the prints were dry, I stapled the pages together (and added a little glue for good measure). Then, wrote the words about our lovely family feet.
You can see "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish" had some influence on our Family Foot Book too.
I thought I'd spare you pictures of every page, but here are the words to "Our Family Foot Book":
One foot, Two feet
Red foot, Blue feet
Left foot, Right foot
A foot that is BIG, a foot that is small,
Daddy's foot is the biggest foot of us all!
Feet. feet. feet.
Our family's feet are pretty neat!

  1. SO cute Sara! I used to stamp first graders' feet in paint and we'd use describing words for our feet, just like this!! Awesome!

  2. I love, love, love this idea! So wonderful that you created this record of a moment in time. One year (the kids and I) put their hand prints all over a sweatshirt for their Daddy, and all over the back we did footprints. When my husband opened his present he just loved it, and the kids were so proud. My husband even wore his shirt to the office. He still talks about it being his favorite gift, ever(and it is packed away in the cedar chest where we can get it out and look at the little feet and hands).

  4. Love it! Last year I started painting my boys' feet on March 4th (Forth) and this is a better way to keep and use it rather than just a piece of paper to file away! Thanks for sharing!
